Me, live in Kuningan, work in Menteng and do most of my drinking around Jl. Wahid Hashim. What about you guys?
P.S, are there any other cheap options for drinking besides the Jaksa/Wahid Hashim area? |

A few of the restos around Kelapa Gading have beers (large bottles) for 15,000 Rp. Not as entertaining as Jaksa or Blok M but cheap nevertheless. Not known as a bule area so this may explain the cheaper prices. |

Kelapa Gading looks like a big place, would you care to recommend any of these places? |

I went to a Thai / seafood place in La Piazza where you can sit outside drinking large Bintangs. The outdoor restos facing the huge concert type area. Also there are loads of karoake bars there but mainly catering for the large Korean community. |

If you go over to Kelapa Gading you might want to check out Joy Cafe on Batavia food Promenade. A very friendly bar with a few very friendly expats to chat to. |

Out of curiosity, what does a bottle of Tiger Beer (660 ml) cost, in rupiah? I want to make a price comparison to Malaysia. Don't worry, I'll do the rupiah-ringgit conversion.
Thanks. |

I've seldom (maybe never?) seen Tiger in the Capital, but on the Riau Islands were I spent the last week I was paying 22-24000 for a bottle of the stuff when I deigned to drink it. |

Yes, I was thinking the same thing jaganath..I only ever drank Tiger in a bar in Batam but don't think I paid as much as you did. I only saw cans and paid about 9 - 10,000 rp in the seaport, airport and one of the main streets. You can probably get Tiger though in Carrefour. |

That was in a food court, pretty much the cheapest drinking option other than out of the supermarket warm. Actually they are a good option as the promotion girls will swarm around you and treat you well if you stick to their particular brand. |

Haven't seen it there recently, but they might have a few moldering old bottles at the back of the fridge. |

Tiger is rough stuff. Unfortunately, I am in Malaysia where the all the beer is mostly dog poo.
All Indonesian beer is rough too. In fact, the only beers worth drinking in all SE Asia are those crafted by the nimble hands of the Laotians and the Vietnamese. Those boys really know how to make a decent beer.
Icy San Miguel stubbies in the Phils make for a decent accompaniment to a fresh fish meal on the beach.
The real hunt should be for a good manly pint of Deuchar's IPA. Almost worth the price of a flight back to the real world. |

India Pale Ale, yes definitely a nice drop. I wonder what the troops thought about it back in the early 1900s. |
