Hello,

My husband and I are on our way to Taiwan. He has gotten a job at a public school near Kaohsiung and I am interviewing wtih KNS. He leaves in a few days and I plan to follow in a few weeks.

We have taught in South Korea before and know the items we want to bring with us - the problem is the airlines have tightened up and it is very expensive to bring anything over the allowed amount, which is now tiny. Does anyone have any suggestions on inexpensive ways to get our stuff over. Delta charges $300 for any bags over 2 and shipping is expensive. If only I were military. They get to bring 10 bags free of charge.

Any help much appreciated. I need my spices, books, and toiletries!! We plan to be in Taiwan for awhile.

There is one rule to follow when traveling. Don't pack books. They are just dead weight.

Spices probably wont get through customs/immigration, and as for toiletries, they have pretty much everything you need in Taiwan (other than specific brands of tampons).

If you're really worried about your things getting there, then just get your husband to send you an address when he gets there, and then just mail a box of stuff over to yourself. It should take about 2-3 weeks to get there....just in time for your arrival.

Hi BigWally,

I sent you a PM. I have been stalking your posts on here. Wanted to know about KNS.

In Korea, it was really hard to find good English books at a decent price. I know they weigh a lot, but I love to read. have a certain brand of shampoo/conditioner and deodorant that I use.

We have been overseas before and I know what I miss. I just want to have some comforts to take with me. I just wanted to know IF there was a way. If not I will figure it out. Thanks.
