Hello everyone,

I'm currently mulling over a couple of job offers in China, the better positions are at Universities.
I have a couple of concerns about this, as previously I've largely taught to children or basic English classes, also I'm fairly young to be teaching at a University (24).

Was wondering what your thoughts on the matter are?
What is a typical class like?
Also any tips?

Since the jobs you've been offered are all in China, I suggest posting on the China Job Forum to get good inside information about what teaching on the university level is like there. And don't worry about your age - when I was barely 22 and a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin, I taught undergraduate Spanish classes with great success. Good luck!

Could i ask you to very briefly describe a typical Spanish undergrad class?
Do you have any links or books that you could recommend, for teaching undergrads?

Sorry, robot, I can't help you. I am one of the more senior members of Dave's, so my university years go back a long, long way, all the way back to the 1960s! The methods and textbooks I used to teach Spanish have now hopefully been consigned to oblivion. In those days we used the boring audio-lingual method to teach foreign languages in the States - it consisted of a great deal of memorization of dialogues and exercise drilling in groups. I have no idea of sorts of books are being used now in university Spanish classes, but I do hope they're more interesting and inspiring than the dull ones I remember from long ago.
