I am thinking of heading to Vietnam to take the CELTA this summer. The course costs 1500, but how much extra would you suggest bringing over to live with for the month of CELTA training and then enough to last till first payday? |

About $700 a month staying in a decent guesthouse and living modestly but comfortably; but remember that once you decide to stay and rent a place, most landlords will want a security deposit and several months' rent up front, so you should also have that in reserve as well (the amount depends on many factors, such as sharing a place, etc; living in a guesthouse, while offering some advantages, can get old quickly.
Don't assume that you'll be working full time directly after the CELTA, although you should get at least some hours fairly quickly and gradually build up to full time. |

Nam is cheap, but not in your first month. Bring $2000. |
