Long time reader, first time poster.
Sorry multiple questions....
I've just arrived in DF and I'm searching for jobs via internet(forum links) and el Universal website.
I think I meet all the criteria for an "experienced" ELT, however, I'm not sure which area has a good concentration of schools: kindergarten-business.
I've taught all levels, and enjoy all levels too.
Any other suggestions on getting out there to drop off CVs and see the schools?
Another question: Where's a good taqueria al Pastor and cantina (like those seen on the Anthony Bourdain show)?
Any tips for finding a secure departamento? periodicos???
Thanks for your responses.

What area of town are you staying at/wondering around? I could give you some tips on taqueras and cantinas if you tell me your whereabouts... this is a huge city.
I'm a local, and experience tells me that both El Universal and Segunda Mano are the best places to look for apartments. But nothing beats walking around the area(s) where you want to live in in search for "se renta" adds. |

I second Segunda Mano. I have always had luck finding a place to rent (and perhaps soon one to buy!)
As for jobs...not many private schools advertise in the papers (at least that I am aware of) but this is hiring time (for next year - this year if you are fast and lucky!). There's an earlier post that mentions the Chilango magazine and how it has a listing of some schools. It might be good to pick up. |

I was looking at Craig's List the other day and there were a few leads on there too. Not the best paid, but work. |

On taqueras... my favorite for tacos al pastor is El Fogoncito, there's a couple in Anzures (Leibnitz street), near Colonia Jurez. You may also want to try Saln Corona on Bolvar, Centro. Their tacos are good and their beer even better, but everything else on the menu, mmmhhh, not so good (tortas, etc.) For tacos de guisado, I suggest you go to Tacos Beatriz, in Zona Rosa.
The cantinas I like are in the souhtern part of town, sorry. |

Oh yeah, that's a good spot. Right next door is Cafe del Centro...another good place. Both are nicely situated across from the American bookstore too. |

Thanks for the tips. In my search I have become addicted to tacos "campechenos" (not sure about the spelling). However, I'll try your recs.
Thanks, VN |

There's a great little taco restaurant that's been around since 1968 and is very popular with the people who live and work in my neighborhood (and with me, of course!). It's called El Caminero and is near the American Embassy on calle Ro Lerma near its intersection with calle Ro Po. |
