Below is the link to an informative article about measures being taken by the government to improve air quality in this big, bad city. I've been coming to Mexico City for many years (beginning in 1966) and feel that the air quality has improved quite a bit in the last few years. What do the rest of you who have lived here for a while think?

I've only been here since 2000, but the air quality has noticeably improved in that time. I think we've only had 3 or 4 days over the last 4 years where the air quality was bad enough to call for the 'doble hoy no circula' program for cars.

However, I feel like November 2008 was a step backwards. The air wasn't very good at all, unlike previous Novembers.

The IMECA (air quality index) site has been updated recently with a nice new look. I've had the habit of checking the site daily for a little over a year now. http://www.sma.df.gob.mx/simat2/

There was an article a week ago in THE NEWS about air quality, and yes, air quality has improved substantially over the past 30 years here in DF. It`s been certified as such by the feds.
