Actually VS Hawthorne aren't recruiters as such. They were part of a Uni in Australia who got Sur University College up and running several years ago and then set up a language centre in Muscat. A certain individual who shall ramin nameless as his name has been mentioned several million times before is the recruiter part - at least as far as I'm aware. |

OK... so Hawthorne hired our favorite Jordanian recruiter in Oman to do a contract with the Ministry. Have they sullied their name by being connected to him or is he part of their standard operating procedure?
What intricate webs they weave...

Hawthorne have an institute in Qurum - very successful as far as I know. It has a good reputation.
The recruiter (I think) is attached to the sponsor and uses the Hawthorne name to get contracts - I don't think he has anything to do with the centre.
If they open in Seeb, they may fill the gap left by the British Council - they do IELTs etc very successfully. |

This Jordanian recruiter used to be the "CEO" of Hawthorn and was the major cause of some very good teachers leaving because of ongoing unresolved contractual issues four years ago. He, of course, was merely the frontman for the very shonky business people who own the school. Since he was removed to "Head Office" and the DOS was replaced I believe things have improved there. However, whether the new DOS has been able to educate the owners about acceptable business practice only currently employed teachers could tell us.

Nothing to add. Just liked your diplomatic way of putting things. The brackets suggest that perhaps there is a great need for such education-- and that it's not only the directors of this institution / corporation that need it. |
