|
|
Hi Folks,
I'm looking for a reasonably paid summer job from mid-July to mid-September. I have 5 years experience, CELTA and I'm currently doing an MA in Education.
I am based in Austria and I'd love to get some experience teaching in another country under my belt.
Does anyone know of short-term summer contracts in Asia, the Middle East or South America?
It would be great to hear from you.
Many thanks and all the best |

Any work requires a work visa, which will be darned impossible to get for that short a time.
That is why most summer work is taken up by people already on site. For the rare opportunity when that is not so, I have seen people report about university programs from their home countries having something, so if you are not home, you might forget it.
Lastly, traveling abroad just to work a couple of months is probably not the most financially sound pursuit. You may not even make up in that time what you have to pay in setup costs (like in Japan). |

Depending on your nationality the British Council sometimes advertise short-term summer courses. Not sure when they start advertising for them - but in the next few months I would have thought - just keep checking their website for info. |

Glenski, please state clearly that you are talking about Japan.
In China and Korea there are many summer positions in July and August. Many Korean universities run summer camps ranging from four to six weeks. Please be aware that you need to get a criminal background check to work in South Korea. If you want to apply for jobs there you need to start getting your papers ready now. |

Summer camps might be an option in places like Asia, Italy, Spain or the UK |

Aston Language School in China offers six week summer contracts that pay 12,000RMB plus free housing. Of course you have to pay for your own flight. |

I've heard of places like Apollo in Hanoi, Vietnam offering summer jobs to teachers in their summer schools / camps |

Yep, can confirm this.
I know first hand that the British Council in Cairo often desperately need teachers for the summer while their teachers are off either visiting home or pi++ing it up in the Sinai
Same rules apply to a lot of other destinations too.
They tend to advertise these positions from May, once they have a better idea of their teachers summer travel plans.
All the best!
