|
|
I worked for Nova from 1999 to 2001. I am currently doing my elementary B.Ed. and have suddenly realised the value of some of those lessons. I particularly remember a lesson about someone being arrested / interrogated (tag questions) and another about a man travelling to Samara.
Can anybody remember the name of the book series?
Thanks in advance. |

Some of those lessons were useful is right- others were completely useless
I was at Nova in the same era as you. Quest was the name with Nova's branding, and Streamline was the generic name for the same text. There were American and British versions of Streamline; Nova used the American one. |

Sorry Mark, but....seriously? Tell me what you thought was good, I am curious.
The books in the Streamline series were each named Arrivals, Departures and Connections weren't they?
I remember I looked at them at a school and soon abandoned them.
The language & subject material was often obsolete, with very random levels of language intermixed and useable in very specific situations.
No wonder so many ex-Nova students, after years of going there, can still only say:
"My hobby is watch movie and study Engrish."
Always judge a book by its cover. Particularly if it has a stamp "Property of Nova" on the front.

Funny line there. But can we blame the text? Or the teachers? Quite a few factors went into producing Nova students who, even after 4-5 years there, could only sputter self-introductions.
Wow, I am a horrible teacher. Making fun of my students. Expecting them to speak English after years of weekly lessons. Silly me. |
