Hi everyone,
I wonder if you have any recommendations for public universities in smaller cities - preferably out West (North and Central China will be considered too) - that are likely to hire non-native speakers? Would particularly like to know of universities located in cities of less than 1 million, and of universities that are nice to and take care of their foreign teachers...
All recommendations are much appreciated |

The 2 conditions above pretty much mean you have to go somewhere besides China to find what you want. |

Maybe somewhere in Yunnan...or guangxi.... I had one colleague who taught at a small school in Yunnan before.
But there is only one kind of the city that you are talking about and I would think that would be Zhuhai but it doesn't fit the location.
I have a colleague here in Shenzhen who raves about Chongqing University though. |

I think very few universities in Guangxi and Yunnan deserve 'recommending' them as the prevailing culture of guanxi and cadres lording it over their underlings is particularly rife in less developed parts of China - such as the two provinces mentioned above. |

I taught at Ningxia University for a year and although it might be slightly above 1 million (depending on who you speak to) it sort-of-ish fulfilled both conditions, so I'm keeping my hopes up! |
