Ok, here's the info. YOU MUST RSVP. FYI this is a book swap, not a book sale.

the Book Swap will take place Feb 14th, from 11am to 1pm at El Sol at Grimaldo del Solar 469 in Miraflores. It's off of Benavides and between Larco and Via Expresa.

Bring your books and in exchange you will get credits depending on the condition. So each book is worth 1 or 2 credits. You exchange your credits for other books there.

At the end you can either take home your books that you brough and nobody has claimed or donate them to the Good Shepherd Book Sale, which should be in May or June.

The book swap will be a chance to mingle with others, coffee and tea will be available during the book swap.

YOU MUST RSVP

Due to space limitations, there is only room for 20 people. So if you're interested in going please either email Sharon at [email protected] or respond here. If I haven't responded to your email, that means I haven't gotten it, so email me again.

When I was in Lima a few days ago I happen to be in a taxi on my way somewhere when I happen to drive past the national library. Does anybody know if this library houses any of the historical documents and books that have recorded the circumstances and finer details of the conquest. I'm sure those types of things are off limits but I was curious because of the posibility of copies of such documents that are available for study.

Probably, though you probably won-t get past the front desk. Can-t check out books and you need tons of signatures just to see the books. Not worth it. And Peruvians wonder why so many of them are illiterate

there's two English libraries. ICPNA and Britanico in Lima, You have to pay though and are limited to the number of books, between 2 and 5.

For the book swap, there' s a max of 2 credits, depending on the condition of the book, not the subject. If you're intersted in attending, PM me.

the book swap was a success, there were about 14 people and enough books leftover for 1.5 boxes to be donated to the book sale in June. Hope to see some of you there!

Hey Sharon, if I had not returned to the US I surely would have attended. I do oppologize for not being there. You are a great person in our blogosphere and I can speak for myself when I say, thank you.
