Hi,

I am new to the forum and I just wanted to first introduce myself before asking question. I have been reading the forums for some time, and have found them to be very informative and helpful, so I trust that any advice given will be beneficial.

I am currently a senior at UT, going to graduate this semester with a B.A. in Linguistics. I am planning on taking a year off before starting Grad School to go to Mexico and teach English. I have just started teaching for the first time this semester, volunteering teaching adult immigrants of beginning levelfrom having very limited knowledge of English to absolutely none at all. Basically, what experience I do have at the moment is limited. I will, however, by the time I move to Mexico, have a semester of experience teaching English.

Now, this is where my question comes in. I am planning on getting a TEFL certificate online in order to fit it in with my class schedule. Teflonline.com provides three options for the certificate: 60-hour, 80-hour, or 120-hour TEFL Online Certificate. Which one would you suggest? I was at least going to sign up for the 80-hour one, but I am unsure if getting the 120-hour certificate would increase my opportunities for getting a job. So is the 120-hour more beneficialshould I pay the extra moneyor will the 80-hour suffice??

Any suggestions will be much appreciated. Thanks!

I believe I did the 120 hour course. I even got it notarized and apostilled before I came to Mexico City but I haven't really had to show it very much. The places I've gone to just wanted to know if I had any certificates and teaching experience but they never asked to see it.
I would do it if I were you because there are tons of information you'll get from taking the course.

PM me if you'd like more information.
