Hi there,

I'm planning on applying for PNET for 2009-2011. I'm happy to see that the EDB is accepting applications until February 28th.

I was going to apply last year but decided not to for personal reasons. I noticed that when the EDB finally updated their application for the current hiring cycle that they are requesting that applicants submit a Certificate of No Criminal Conviction (as it is called in Hong Kong) or its equivalent for every country you have resided in. I don't remember this being on the application last year but I could be wrong. I have lived in four countries. Pass me the Advil.

I have heard that having all the paperwork right away isn't always a necessity but they will require you to submit things at a later date. I hope this is the case, as getting one of these certificates from the RCMP in Canada, where I reside, would take on average 120 days at least. I have also taught in Japan, China and Mexico. I know applying for NET from reading prior posts on this forum can be an absolute administrative nightmare, but was just wondering if its okay not to submit these with my initial application as I most likely won't have them in time for the initial deadline anyway.

Cheers

Fatima

If this is now necessary - which is a positive move on the part of the EDB - then I suggest you start applying for proof asap and ask for an acknowledgement for the authorities concerned that you have submitted your request. When you go for interview you can show the interviewer that you are in the process of getting clearance and will produce the proof if/when you are offered a position.

I'm a permanent HK resident and will be applying for PNET position from HK. Do I need to get a Certificate of No Criminal Record?
