Hello,
I've just moved to Valencia and am trying to open a bank account but I'm really confused as to what exactly I need to do. One bank told me that I need a Certificado de no residencia, but having looked on the internet I think I need a Certificado de residencia (is this the same as a NIE?) as although I'm not working at the moment I'm trying to get a job in a language school (although I'm having no luck so may try for a job in a bar or something else) and don't you need an NIE number to work legally?
Also I don't really understand the difference between just having a NIE number and having a certificado de residencia?
Sorry if none of the above makes sense but I'm useless with English bureaucracy and my Spanish could do with a bit of work so I'm completely baffled
If anyone could shed some light on this for me I'd be really grateful!!
Edited to add: I'm British, if that makes any difference? |

Hi Dwen,
Welcome to Valencia. I've been here 5 years and am well used to the bureaucracy. It's kind of fun once you get used to it.
Anyway, if you want to meet for a coffee sometime just send me a message and we'll meet up and I'll explain it all to you. Probably much easier than trying to explain it here.
Ian. |
