|
|
I have applied for a position at Guangzhou City Construction College. Does anyone have any exp. with them or any info about it?
Also they sent me a contract and it says that they will fully sponsor my visa so I'm all legal. But when I sent an e-mail asking them If i can get my visa here in Canada, this is the answer I got.
"Yes,but it is an urgent position. It is only natural to come with a tourist visa first and before it expires, the school can help to deal with the visa for you because it is a public university.Pls read the whole contract carefully."
Is this true, or he is blowing smoke just to get me there ASAP? |

Once again - this has been discussed so many times.
It could be possible that they can change the visa after you get there.
But the point is, you are required to have a Z visa to teach. They want you to come and teach ILLEGALLY on an L visa (tourist visa).
Follow the law rather than join the group of illegal workers |

They may really want someone there asap, but they are asking you to risk working illegally at your own peril. They may get into trouble as well, but they won't back you up.
They will 'help you deal with' the proper work visa. Does that mean they will cover the extra expense of getting another visa (you pay for a visa each time full price, same price for tourist, work, whatever)? If you need to fly back to your home country to get a z visa, will they pay the extra airfare? I really doubt it.
It could work out fine, the way they describe it. But if it doesn't, it won't cost the school any extra, but could be a real pain for you. If you are qualified, there are too many decent places to work that will do it right, to take a risk here. |

I agree with both of you. I would much prefer to be all legal as soon as I step off the plane.
The way they made it sounds was, that because they are a public university, they have special privileges or something. Was just wondering if there was any truth to that. I guess not. Thanks. |

This school has earned itself a red flag of caution in the past. Just search the threads on this board and do a google search too. You would be well-advised to do this before you leap into this amass. |

Since they are supposed to provide you the documents to obtain a Z visa before you arrive, wouldn't that course of action be, "only natural"? |
