Hey everyone,
I want to start teaching English in Taiwan this September and I'm wondering where to start looking for a job. There are several different ways of going about it, it seems... you can go through a large recruiter like TeachAway, or you can apply to a large chain-school like Hess. Or you can just head over there and try to find a job own your own, or with the help of recruiting agents.
It seems the advantages of working with a large chain-school like Hess are that they provide a lot of support when you first get there--for instance, helping you find a place and get settled and trained. The price you pay for this kind of help is that you work a lot more, and at the same salary, as at independent schools.
Am I on the ball so far?..
I'm basically wondering which route I should go. It would be nice to have some support upon arrival. On the other hand I've heard these big chains schools sometimes get a bad rap.
Also, has anyone had any experience with a recruiting agency like TeachAway?
I appreciate any advice that anyone can offer. |
