Im supposing that in Madrid people hire for teachers in September and early January??? Is that right???
What are the prospects of finding a room in January???
Thanks |

January is the second best time of year to come after September: make sure you're here and ready to look for work ready in time for for the second week of the year (they celebrate Epiphany which basically marks the end of the Christmas season).
Getting a room should also not be too hard as a lot of Erasmus students go home after a 3 month term, and also there are also a fair amount of teachers who just give up and don't come back (though obviously you'd be after their rooms and not the jobs they abandon)

Thanks for the reply.
For various reasons I won't be able to get out of here until late february (at the earliest), would there be some work at the time?
Thanks |

There's quite a lot of work in Madrid at the moment, according to all the schools I've talked to there, but late February is a time when most of the classes have already been assigned to teachers. Also, don't forget that in July, August and September there is very little work going so you'd only have March/April/May/June to work in: I'd recommend getting to Madrid earlier, ready for the second week of January, or arriving mid-September instead.

|

Hello!
I'm hoping to be approved for a student visa which would allow me to work in Spain legally (with this particular position) from Oct-Jun of the next school year.
The job would start in October, and I'm trying to learn when the best month would be to look for a place to rent (in any given area)?
August seems like it would be a bad time with everyone on holiday, but I'm a bit concerned that September may be too late, since it will take a few weeks (at least) to secure a place to stay.
I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks! |
