Odd...so far, the link you put up is the only reference I can find to what would be a very large story. |

I saw headlines in a Mexican newspaper yesterday at a newstand - can't remember which one it was. I also remember reading that it may be impossible to get at this deposit - didn't read enough to find out why |

Here's another link to another version of this story, this time in Spanish:

THE NEWS also had a story about the reserves which borders Veracruz and Puebla states. Unfortunately, it is near impossible to access this oil field. As opposed to most of the other finds, including Cantrell, this oil field is mired in hundreds of small pockets of underground tunnels and caverns. Preliminary strikes have had the oil pressure peter out in only a few weeks, making it a worthless find. The conjecture is that it will take another 10 years to come up with the proper drilling tools to get at this oil find. Despite that, the feds have still sold leasing rights to several oil companies to drill in the area. Its probably a bust at best. |

Ahh...the Khazijstan Times seemed to miss that. Might explain why they don't often win a Pulitzer for hard-hitting investigative journalism.
Starting to see a pattern here with your news choices Mr. Furgers...The Uzbekistan Rifler, Khazijstan(cripes, SP?)Koroner, The Iranian Voice of Freedom and All Things Allah ...you're working for Al-Qaeda, bent on undermining the West, aren't you? Go on, admit it... |

Good one, Guy! And all this time I was thinking that jfurgers was just bent on undermining Mexico! |

Meh...
It's common to see these stories circulated in emails during election times in the US. Typically, they're along the lines of: "look how much oil/coal/whatever is available under the mountains/national park/whatever, but the current administration is in the pockets of the big oil companies and won't go get it for us." They don't tell you that it's not economically (or sometimes, ecologically) feasible to actually drill for the stuff. |
