I have a friend in Korea whose parent died. In order to take off that time for the funeral, they had to provide the death certificate to the school before the school would approve the leave.
Is this normal in China too? Seems harsh. |

if an employee is drawing salary during the period of leave it sounds reasonable for the school to ask for a copy of a death certificate. otherwise it would be too easy to abuse. asking for the death certificate would be a bit harsh if the salary was suspended during leave and the teacher was only gone a short time ie: a week or ten days. a korean hagwon owner may think differently.
standard chinese contracts say this:
(2) Should Party B find it necessary to ask for leave on personal business, which is granted in advance by Party A, the payment of salary will be suspended as from the day of absence. Asking for leave for business reasons will not permitted after the second time within one year and the interval for every personal business leave should be within 3 days. |
