I recently had an interview with westgate and found the interviewer to be incredibly emotionally removed. Possibly rude.
Would this be normal in Japan? Just wondering as I have had many Japanese students outside of Japan, but have never delt with professionals where I was not the teacher. What may I expect from the Japanese professionals - how do they see foreigners generally? Any feedback would be great. |

Can't speak for dispatch agencies or recruiters, but as for the Japanese teachers in high school and university that I have met, most of them are very courteous and nice. As with everywhere, people differ of course, so there are exceptions.
Don't expect overt friendliness during interviews, though. |

There's no way to generalise about this- you will come across as many different personalities, moods and approaches as you would in your own country. |

I wouldn't say it's normal. Either the interviewer didn't want to be there, or maybe was creating an atmosphere to see how you'd respond. |

Probably the interviewer once entertained notions of a jet-set, rock n roll lifestyle on account of his/her English ability, but there he/she still is, interviewing the next bunch of applicants (any one of whom could bring home the bacon), then the next...
That is, could be in the wrong job, or just not in quite the right one yet.
Anyway, it isn't exactly breaking news that dispatchers often treat people with contempt - you just got your taste sooner rather than later. |
