| I have been approached to do a 20 minute bit every week for a local kids show.. I would basically do activities and play games with students from different primary schools in Wuhan.. Has anyone done anything similar to this? what do you think would be fair in terms of pay? they said filming would take about 2 hours each show.. plus the time it takes me to prepare the material.. My first thought was its basically teaching so anything over the standard 100-150/h would be gravy... then i got thinking that a) they can re-use it as much as they want.. b)my friends will tune in everyweek and never let me live it down.. c)kinda high profile and may get hassled for it on the street... Im sure there are many more cons im not seeing yet... |

| Have the fitted you yet for the clown wig and nose (and big floppy shoes)? Just kidding . . . . sort of. Surely you know by now, nothing is simple in China. The "two hours" will turn to five or six. The children will be a nightmare and nobody will raise a finger to help you control them. Parents and others will be standing off to the side beaming at their little "star". Obviously you won't get to scold them or anything as you'll be on TV and all. If it were me, I wouldn't accept anything less than 500 an hour - - because they are going to milk your "whiteness" in any way they can if this is successful: DVDs, promotional posters, TV advertisements, etc. |

Minimum RMB1500 but try to get RMB2000 per show. Posters are correct-your image and 'act' will be milked to death. Straight fee for the work done for each show and forget about any copyright, repeat fees, image exploitation etc etc.

Exactly, so you need to justify doing it by getting decent money. And get paid after each show.....cash
Oh, and as you say, you'll be famous everywhere so take advantage of that. Freeebie time!
Only problem might be your legal right do that kind of paid work and the tax liability. Maybe get some advice before you don the funny wigs etc. |

| While in Anhui 4 years ago, I edited and did the English voice overs for a 10 minute English news program. I was paid 500 RMB for two and a half hours of work. I made a tape for a flooring company and was paid 400 RMB for two hours of work. Friends who made tapes for middle school students were paid 120 RMB per hour , until they found out that the middleman was getting 200 RMB per hour and taking a 40 % cut Ask for at least 1200 per hour while u are working including prep time |
