Well, I had a short vacation last year in Cambrils, near Salou in the Tarragona province. Were it possible, I'd move there now and forever. Lovely part of the planet. |

Thanks, Sheikh Radlinrol, glad to hear thing still OK there. I was there from 1982 - 84 in Tarragona itself. I went to KSA ( aren't YOU there now ? ) to get the cash to return and set up for myself, but got sidetracked again and again, and guess what ? Looks like I'll be in good ol' KSA again soon !!! |

Just been working out there. Santa Tecla was amazing, thousands of drunken Catalans dancing ecstatically around a giant golden chicken , pyramid towers of people five stories high with a three year old perched on top marching down the slippery cobbled streets etc etc the usual total insanity !
Its still vey medieval /Catalan not touristy and probably the smokiest place on eart as everyone chain smokes. The only downside is the nearby factories (known by the locals as "Mordor") which wafts unpleasent smelling and toxic gas clouds through the town. |

Hi there, I've just moved to Spain and living near Tarragona. I'm studying for my TEFL right now. Does anyone now of any good schools or any vacancies going in the area? Thanks for your help, Lisa |

International House Tarragona are a place I'd definitely apply to. Note that you'll definitely be teaching kids there (and they much prefer people with experience teaching kids).
Good place to work, though I've no idea if they have current vacancies...

I just wanted to revive this thread to see if anyone has any more advice. I contacted the IHEs and they have nothing for the summer. English summer have summer camp courses with kids but that involves living on camp etc, and I'm much rather live in Tarragona itself. English Summer also have positions in the town for adults, they say they requite TEFL and teaching excperience.
I have TEFL, but not really any experience as a teacher. Do you think there is any possibility of landing a job with them?
Also, any other possibilities or websites to look at would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers |
