After months of looking, I have finally found a really good volunteer program that doesn't cost anything. The organization is called El Nahual, and is in Xela, Guatemala. They offer a range of placements, from English teaching, to basic Spanish teaching, gardening, music classes and construction.
I've just started here and really enjoy it.
