For those of you that taught abroad with college loans to pay back, any advice on which countries were easier to wire money back from? Places that allowed you to save a little more for that matter? Lower cost of living? Visas that didn't require a border run 90 days or so? |

It seems that the Middle East, Korea (South, that is), Japan and perhaps Vietnam might fit the bill. Depends on how much that student loan payment is, your lifestyle, your qualifications, what interests you, and myriad other factors.
Good luck! |

Unless that student debt was for a graduate degree (probably in Applied Linguistics or TESOL) then standard wisdom says to take the Middle East off of that list.
The three biggies for making money (as a newbie) are:
Korea
Taiwan
Japan
The JET program is still the easiest way to pay off student loans- especially if you are out in a rural setting (and most JETs are) because there will be very little to actually spend you money on (except telephone calls home). Outside of the JET program, salaries are dropping and so other than for people who live in very rural areas, Japan isn't really a place to go for paying off debts as a newbie all that much any more. |

Generally, yes, although there are jobs available in Oman for people without MAs. (BA + certificate + experience) The salary of course won't be quite as high, but still high enough to save money. Visas are sorted out for you, and as long as you get your accommodation provided (NOT a housing allowance, which doesn't go very far), the cost of living isn't too high.
