Hi all

Just wondering what route to take now that I'm officially burned out with teaching in Asia. It's been a great experience but I've decided that this year really needs to be my last... even with the current economic crisis.

My friends and family have really been after me to come back to the states to get certified to teach k-12 since I already have my masters, but I've been avoiding the PRAXIS like the plague.

I know most of the states are supposed to have A/C programs for teachers who want to become certified without going the conventional route... so I think I'm just going to bite the bullet and do it.

For those of you who know anything about this, where should I start?
I've looked at certification in Texas, Florida and Arizona. I've ruled out teaching fellows programs. So where to go from here?

I have heard it is easier to get certified in Nevada and Ohio.
But the Praxis can't be avoided, at least in Nevada.
In Nevada the state pays for your health care and for the pension contribution after five years.

In Illinois, you can work and study on Saturday for certification.

Some states are tough. In Massachusetts you have to take a foreign language test. You can choose the language.

Since I am in Japan, I was thinking of taking the Praxis in Guam.
The Praxis is given in any state.
