I'm bringing my Gateway laptop computer (bought in USA) to Vietnam. I have never traveled out of the country with a computer before. What do I need to buy when I get to HCMC that will allow me to use my computer safely? I'm assuming an adapter for the wall outlet and some sort of surge protector but do I need something else to account for different voltage levels? Thanks!

I have a Toshiba and a regular western style plug that fits into most viet electric wall outlets.
Most of the wall outlets are both circular and slots combined to fit any type plug.

Your laptop should have come with a converter box on the electric cord which will allow you to just plug in anywhere without worry.

I have not had any problems. I bought mine in the U.S. also.

Thank you! Do you know anywhere in District 1 that sells surge protectors? I'm sure there are tons of places, just looking for the most convenient.

Err they're sold anywhere you can find computers.

They're pretty common here. I should get one too actually.

Yea...i keep mine unplugged. Power goes on and off so much. I need the surge protector too.

Rainy season is upon us in a week and get ready for the fun. Flooded streets, traffic stopped dead. Late to school or cannot get there at all.
