| Newbie here. Hi everyone. I'd like to find out some information on Miyazaki, Japan. Are there a fair amount of opportunities there? I have experience teaching in public schools in the U.S. and hold a BA in Speech Communications. I have some experience teaching overseas (about 6 months) but hold no certificates. I don't speak Japanese but I'm a fairly quick learner and patient. I'm interested primarily in Miyazaki but would consider other areas of Kyushu as well. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all. |

Miyazaki has a small, somewhat saturated EFL market. The local people are generally laid-back and friendly, and prices for most things (especially fresh produce) are relatively inexpensive. Moreover, the weather (particularly the surfing) is great--hence, there's not a lot of turnover for the various positions. With your qualifications, your best bets would be JET, AEON/GEOS or (dare I say it?) Interac, though getting placed in Miyazaki would take some luck. |

Thanks for your input. Would my chances increase if I chose to work with children? I prefer this anyway.
Also, do you happen to know the job market in other parts of Kyushu. I'm also interested in information regarding Kagoshima. |
