				| I have worked in the UAE and loved it. I heard from time to time that Oman is even better. Any thoughts. | |

				| Most people prefer Oman-- but then most people don't love the UAE-- or at least, working there. If you loved working there, then you probably wouldn't like Oman-- although, sad to say, Oman seems to be growing more and more like its neighbours. | |

				| It all depends on you and what you like...
You worked in the UAE and never visited Oman?

				| "Wherever you go there you are."
One who has generally been happy wherever s/he has worked and taken the good as bonus and the bad as a learning opportunity has become a true citizen. Oman is wonderful...lots of bonus and lots of learning opportunity: but I am sure you found the UAE to be the same, citizen.

Give it a go. Oman is so diverse that it staggers one. Check out Oman2day for some very well written articles by Pinaki. A search of the back issues and Pinaki's writings reveal just what a stimulating and deep experience Oman can be.

				| I would love to find out what is the primary difference betw. living and working in the UAE vs. Oman. I am interested in working in the Middle East, but want a blend of good pay job w/ cultural and historical sites. It seems like Oman has the best of both those worlds. Does UAE have many ancient cultural sites? I would say eygpt would be the best, but if one wants to save some money for travel, it may be heavy on the culture and not the salary. Please respond w/ any info, experience, or insight. Thanks!

				| I've worked in both the UAE and Oman, and I would say, it all depends on what you liked about the UAE? If you like the modern western feel of Dubai, Oman may disappoint you.
Oman is much more beautiful, in terms of the land and I'd also say the people. I had a class of 36 Omanis once and didn't really mind it at all. It wasn't perfect, but the Omani people are more "genuine" than their emirati neighbours. It does feel more remote, good and bad, but it is a very nice place to live and work. Depending on your location in Oman, it can be just as expensive and a moderate lifestyle in the UAE.

If money is not your bottom line, and you can live with earning a bit less, I'd choose Oman. But then again, I didn't "love" the UAE. I liked it, sometimes a lot, but I didn't love it. I have a feeling if you love the UAE, and not just the shiny parts of it, you would very much fall in love with Oman.

 Good luck!
