I'm in Busan, South Korea now and have been here about 4 years. Two of which will have been at university when I leave next year.

I have a B.S. (according to my university, but my diploma reads B.A.). I'll have about 5 years teaching experience and plan to get my CELTA or a decent TESOL cert.

I know the pay in Thailand hasn't typically been comparable to Korea but right now the economy here is in the toilet and looks to be staying that way for a while. The university I work at has also chosen to observe a new govenmental policy which restricts foreigners to only two years of employment at a given job, so as they cannot accrue too great a pension (?). Their reasons are dubious at best because it's a private university but... yeah... our department is powerless in the matter.

Anyway, I was looking at moving to Thailand before I got this university job and am considering it again. I'd really like to be in Phuket if possible. I'm thinking that this will be my final jump and I'll be looking to put down roots and maybe start a family.

So, with 5 years experience, B.S. and a TESOL cert. or CELTA what should look for in a contract?

The hardest part about leaving my present job will be walking away from the 12 weeks of vacation. Korea can be a stressful place to live, but with all those holidays it's not so bad.

Thanks in advance.

As far as a contract goes in phuket you really don't find much work that pays above 30,000 Baht a month, roughly 900 USD. I know of some teachers who get paid more than that but its really not that common. Check out ajarn.com for work in phuket or the phuket gazette online site. I know plenty of people hiring there right now, how about we switch jobs. Those 12 weeks off sound mighty fine.
