Can anyone offer help on the best deal for a cell phone? I�m moving to Poland soon, and will need to call home, or even better, a phone that does not cost my family the earth if they call me.

Buy a prepay cellphone when you get here. Keep it topped up with prepay cards. Expect to spend lots of money on it. Never use it to call overseas. To call overseas buy prepaid calling cards (telepin is the cheapest) and then make the local rate call to the access number using the landline telephone in your apartment (or a callbox). Do not use Telecom Polska, they will charge you seven times more than telepin.

Getting calls from abroad? Either use voice over internet or get your family to buy prepaid calling cards, those cards are much cheaper than conventional calls. Don't let them call your cellphone, tell them to call the landline in your apartment.
