You could try SOPcast, although I'm not sure of the legality of such software and its content in Japan.

well, if its a good service (quality etc) I don't mind paying but the sites I saw didn't give much info on quality/general info. Just intro and then pay your money!

But of course if there is a site thats free and reasonable quality I would use that

Thanks

You could get somebody back home to buy a Slingbox and hook it up to the internet for you, then you can watch as much TV as you want online for free.

Well Hikari TV is accessed via the internet but it's not like you're imagining. There's a set top box which connects to your TV. Setting it up is pretty simple but it's all in Japanese. They have some HD channels but not J Sports Plus which shows the rugby.

A slingbox is a device that relays a television signal over the internet, to your desktop or notebook. Basically, you buy a slingbox, set-it up at the source (home country) by connecting it to a cable box and an internet modem, and install software on a destination computer to receive the signal. You can watch all of the channels that are available on your source cable box (you can change channels online).

You should be able to find info here...
