Hi I am thinking of travelling to Singapore in January. I am completely healthy, however, people tell me that anti SARS measures are so strict there that even if I have a cold or flu and my body temperature is up, I could be detained in Singapore. Is that true?

Is there automatic checking of all passengers? I heard that this is happening, even if you are just in transit and don`t go out of the airport.
Could somebody tell me how strict or otherwise procedures are?

I went through Singapore late this April when the SARS thing was at its worst point. They did have strict precautions and I read information that said they had special temperature checking devices which sounded very hi-tech but I don't think they would detain you just for a bit of a temperature or a cold. When I was at the boarding lounge waiting for my flight there was a girl sitting not far from me (before I cautiously moved away!) who obviousy had some kind of cold because she was coughing and sniffing all over the place but she had got through to that point OK.

I think you'll be fine.

Getting through customs at Singapore last January was a piece of cake. I don't think you'll have any problems either
