I was going to post on the Bahrain forum, but it doesn't seem to get alot of traffic. I was just wondering if someone can give me some opinions on a job offer. I have a B.S in Elementary Education, An M.Ed in Teaching and Learning, and a second Master's in Reading. I have 3 years teaching in the public school and 2 years teaching ESL in eastern Eurpoe. I jot a job offer for a school in Bahrain. The salary was 27,000 a year. It is lees than I am making now. Is that a typical salary? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks! |

Bahrain is one of the "poorer" GCC states and as such would have correspondingly lower salaries. With your qualifications, you should be able to get more $$ in UAE, Qatar and possibly Oman but I can't say for sure about the latter.
Hopefully someone with more direct experience (mine is from passing observation only as I don't know much about Bahrain - only what I hear from friends) will post some relevant info soon. |

you're over qualified for that job = one reason for the low salary
your colleagues may only have a ba (in history) with teaching experince and a celta - maybe not even the degree....
but no taxes and free housing with cost of living cheaper than the usa
do a broader benefit analysis |
