I am on daily medication and need to know if the drugs I take will be available in Vietnam. Does anyone know how I could find this out?
If I have to bring a years supply how hard is the process?
thanks |

Two off-topic postings have been deleted. It would be a very good idea that there be no repeats. |

Hi S, you do not need a prescription at pharmacies here but I don't know what they do or don't carry. The only thing I can think of is to contact one of the Western medical clinics here such as Family Medical or SOS and ask them what's what. You can google them or find them listed in asialifehcmc.com or wordhcmc.com. |

Better yet, list the medications here and someone will most likely be able to tell you if they are available. |

I've only done 3 month contracts, not a year, but this is how I managed:
My Oz doctor and specialists wrote scripts for FOUR months of each essential medication and wrote REG 24 on the script. This allowed the pharmacist to dispense all the medication in one hit - instead of script by script at the intervals prescribed by our PBS medication system.
Medicos also supplied statements on letterhead of my medication regimes and necessity for the medication, which was attached to my passport.
Needless to say, I keep all medication with me and it travels in my carry-on luggage.
Have had no problems at customs, immigration etc anywhere.
I have also been surprised at the things I could buy over the counter in Nam AND the small amounts dispensed. To keep up my regime (for those drugs which were identifiable) I'd have had to go to pharmacies about once or twice a week.
Some essential medications were apparently unknown and unprocurable.
Contact me directly if you want more details.
Cheers

Small amounts dispensed? You can get any quantity you want. Just ask. |
