About STA Travel, I know that you get a special student price. I will be purchasing from them in about 2 days and be in Japan before the end of the month. I guess I need to buy the ISIC card as well. The only problem is that the ISIC card won't have arrived before the date of my flight. I should still be alright as long as I have the ticket, right?

I am not a student (btw), I am 24 and will be entering on a Work Visa.

Thanks for any help.

ISIC card is not widely accepted in Japan. The only places where you can expect to get student discounts are with international hostels. You can still find discounts for things like shopping, transportation, and sight-seeing, but not much of it is done through ISIC.

Thanks for letting me know, but I'm not looking t purchase an ISIC card. I would only buy one because I supposedly have to in order to get the student price.

You have to be able to prove that you're a student in order to get the ISIC card. I believe I had to email them a copy of my current class schedule from my active student email account for verification.

There are two cards:

ISIC - The student card for students under 35
ISTC - The youth travel card for travellers under 25 (which is what I have)

You need either of them to be eligible for the blue ticket prices. I just popped into a STA store with my passport and a photo. Then you'll have it in a matter of minutes.
