If I were to enter China on an L visa, can I just enter with a one way flight? |

Yes. Though some airlines in the past (Canadian?) insisted on seeing a return ticket, but as far as the Chinese are concerned it's not a necessity.
You might be asked about your plans when you arrive so just say you are travelling through the country and will leave from another city. You might also need to show a credit card or something. Don't worry, and anyway it likely won't be an issue. |

Like Al said, the problem wont be at the China end, any problems will be encountered wherever you board the plane for China when you're checking in (no proof of onward travel and possibly no boarding). For example if you're flying from Canada or the US to Hong Kong on a one way ticket, and have a valid China visa, you should be good to go. If flying from Canada or US to Hong Kong and have an onward ticket from Hong Kong to a further destination, also OK.
Have encountered this problem once myself and before they'd check me in at Vancouver airport, I ended up buying a fully refundable return ticket (HK back to Vancouver), which I eventually refunded in Hong Kong, but it took 6 weeks to get the money back and my credit card took the hit for that period of time.
On another similar occasion I had no trouble at all boarding without proof of onward travel. Depends on the agent who checks you in sometimes. |

As has been said, I believe it depends on your airline. Check thoruoughly with them and your travel agency if you used one.
If in doubt, book on onward flight with tiger airways from shenzen to singapore well in advance. otherwise you could be forced to buy an onward flight at the airport which could cost you a lot more money. |
