Yeah, I've been looking for a job in the Middle East and I have
experience overseas. Through another place I applied(allegedly)
these guys sent an e inviting me to apply. $4500USD for 20 hours.
I had to e back twice; only sent my CV/photo/degree.
So they accepted me and sent a Letter of Appointment and told me to
contact the UAE embassy(I'm in the States) for visa and work permit.
This is a lettle quick, ad this aint my first rodeo.
Anyone know what's up/heard of the school?
Thanks in advance..... |

SCAM SCAM SCAM!!! Do not send them anything!! See the sticky at the top of this page.
Any job that says $4500 in "dollars" for 20 hours and doesn't require that you have an MA/PhD and 3+ years of experience in a university IEP teaching Academic English... and an extensive video interview is a SCAM.
Also... the UAE embassy in another country does not give out "work" visas. They must be done in the UAE after medical tests and such.
Your message is not clear as to whether you are asking about two applications or only one. DO NOT SEND MONEY! No legitimate employer asks you to send them money.

This appears to be a K-12 school - no K-12 school pays $4500 - EVER. Also, if it is a Bangladeshi school - they can get Bangladeshi teachers for about the equivalent of USD1,000 per month and claw back all expenses for visas, medical checks etc.
As VS says, scam, scam, scam. There are quite a few threads about legit K-12 schools on the boards. Most pay about USD2,500 to start (but I stand to be corrected) and expect at least a 35 - 40 hour work week (not contact hours but on campus). |

Al Khubairat School in Abu Dhabi advertised for teaching jobs last week with salaries starting at 19,000 dhs per month. $4500 is more or less 16,500 dhs so to say you have have to be an MA qualified tertiary teacher or that NO school pays this much is inaccurate. Many places in primary, secondary and tertiary do not require an MA and pay well. An MA however does open more doors though it is far more appropriate for university level as the british system requires a PGCE to work in schools. |

If it is real, then it would be a GREAT job.
One that pays better than 80% of all the University teaching jobs here in the UAE.
Put up their website.
it is easy to see if they are real or fake. |

It's quite easy to find their web site. All you need to do is type "Al Khubairat School" on Google.
Al Khubairat School aka The British school is one of the top K-12 schools in the land. I'd be shocked if they offered jobs based on e-mail.
Here's their web address - http://www.britishschool.sch.ae/ |

ah John.
That isn't the original school discussed (he never left a name). and it isn't the same website.
your honest and correct website may not be the same webpage which is offering the jobs.
The point being most of the local webpages end in AE (as yours did), but many of the scams are using .tk
and the one Tudodude posted is a .com which is rather interesting. I don't know if it is a scam or not.
What I notice Tudodude is the list of teachers are all arabic names.... yet they are offering you 16K AED a year with housing included.... I think it smells fishy. |

Yes, of course, Tom S is correct that there are some international schools - the top of the line British and American based schools where the embassy kiddies go - that offer as much or more than the university jobs.
BUT... they will not take people without an appropriate BA (in primary or secondary education), appropriate teacher certificate from preferred country, CELTAs or DELTAs or PGCE and usually many years of related direct experience.
AND... they do not hire you by email. You will have to have a proper interview... normally by video... and often more than one interview.
If it seems too good to be true, it is... Sorry tudodude...

There is the proof of the scam.
I'm sure Mr Maruq will be happy to take your US$337. Western Union?? It makes you want to laugh at loud. A government ministry supposedly using Western Union??? I wonder how many suckers do it. Obviously enough, since they keep doing it.
I love the new added little footnote at the bottom quoting some obscure supposed law.
There is no legitimate employer paying US$4500 a month who makes a teacher pay for a visa. I have never paid for a visa...

Thanks for the correction to my salary estimate Tom. I would stand by it for the most part in that the vast majority of the k-12 schools do not (unfortunately) pay in the USD4500 range.
The OP has neither provided us with his quals nor has he returned to give us more details about his offer - too bad. |
