I have been offered a job in HCMC offerinf me $1365 for the first two months and then $1440 and once I have accrued 2 years of teaching experience (I only have one) my salary will be $1520 before tax! Is that good for HCMC ? What type of life can I expect to lead on that?
Thanks |

It depends on your qualifications and how many hours you have to work to get that salary they are quoting you. On that salary you should be able to live decently and save some cash every month. Eat out most nights at decent restaurants and have some extra change to throw around on whatever your heart desires as long as you can find that in Vietnam. GO on some vacations! Check out the countryside....beach..... etc.... |

It sounds like the standard large institution rate to me. Many people here in Hanoi are perfectly happy with that rate. You will also probably get a lot of training and have the opportunity to do overtime or earn some extra cash through privates so it should be fine and there is more money if you need it. |
