I have not lined anything up as far as a job in Japan. I was not accepted into JET (which I gather from this forum is not unusual for a first-time applicant) and have only found one other offer I was interested in (I turned it down because they wanted me to sign/leave within the same month).

My question is this: What is the next hiring season, and how long would you estimate it would take me to find a reasonably secure, desirable beginner-level position? By this I mean getting paid on time, a decent class size/atmosphere, etc.

I've noticed others on here after mentioned a surge in hiring around August for positions to start in September.

Have you checked out Interac? Otherwise, I'd keep checking on Dave's, Gaijinpot, jobsinjapan, etc.

FWIW, I can say as a JET it isn't all it is cracked up to be. ESID

I'd say the second surge in hiring takes place for October start dates, not September. Perhaps it's regional.

Steve,
Just keep your eyes open. If you're able to move in 1-2 months' time, it would pay to continually check the boards. Don't know your current situation. Sounds like you're doing a reasonable job of filtering the less-than-likeable employers.
