Dear lagerlout,
"Marines are not allowed to die.....without permission!!!"
Well, don't know if it'll help, but you have my permission.
Regards,
(ex-Marine) John

Dear fat_chris,
Many years ago, in a galaxy far, far away - yup, I was, '63 to '67. So many people in this field have been in the Peace Corps; I never was, I was, however, in the War Corps. And believe me, the Peace Corps is far, far better, all-around.
Regards,
John
Dear lagerlout2006,
Glad you decided not to use that permission. For my money, "Full Metal Jacket" is the best movie I've ever seen about Viet-Nam. But then, Kubrick was a genius. My only quibble is that the Drill Instructor was too much of a softie.
Regards,
John

johnslat,

Good to hear that I made the right choice. I have experienced one, but not the other.

What do you think of "Apocalypse Now" and "Platoon?"

Johnslat, do you suppose Scot47 could have been a Drill Instructor in a previous incarnation?
