Any info on teaching in the public schools for the Abu Dhabi Education Council [ADEC]?

Do you mean new info? If you do a search there are dozens of threads over the last couple years on them and their various recruiters... and all the problems. This is definitely a 'buyer beware' employment opportunity.

I would be cautious if considering a job w/ an ADEC project. It's hard to say how long ADEC will truly be around.

I don't think ADEC is going anywhere. They are taking over more and more MOE responsibilities by the day.

When you say ADEC, do you mean working for ADEC or for one of the companies that works FOR them? There aren't that many positions with "ADEC." The only non-executive positions I know of are in the PPP or the model schools. From what I understand, most of the people who work for them get paid quite well, but they deserve it. These are people with Master's in Special Education or 25 years serving as principals in western countries.

Are they recruiting teachers now?

Word is that none of the PPP providers got contracts for new schools for next academic year. Adec will take over directly. Existing contracts will be honoured.

What happened is there is no "PPP4." What this means is that there will be no more EXPANSION of providers into new schools.

The PPP will continue based on the performance of the schools already in the program. Each school was contracted for 3 years, extensible to 5 based on performance. That means all PPP schools will continue, with the possible exception of the KGs and primaries that were started in PPP1 that didn't perform up to snuff.

ADEC does continue to expand and will eventually be what the MOE is today. Its teachers work very hard, deserve what they're paid and DO provide the service required unlike PPP providers such as cfbt or projects like MAG, which have been withdrawn from the Abu Dhabi emirate. There are no PPP4s, but schools like those cfbt has a presence in, in Al Ain, for example, where the current CD is pretty much responsible for non-performance and loss of teaching staff will probably be taken over by ADEC and won't be given another single school. None of the PPPs have yet been advised if there're going to be any expansions this year. In all likelihood, the P1s will be garnered by ADEC, which won't keep dead wood in place.

I just interviewed (phone) with teach away which supposedly reps ADEC. They are looking to hire K teachers. They quoted a salary of 11-16k aed per month, accomodations, and the other usual. I need to know if this recruitment firm is legit.

YES it seems they are.

They have shorlisted up to 200 teachers and are waiting for ADEC to do personal interviews in order to approve them.

When? Well I have been told some time in May?

Only problem is that they don't provide any allowance for schooling, so if you got kids then its a tight budget.
