If I read this correctly, this means no new health check if you are staying with the same employer, right?

Code:
Also, if a foreigner changes a job and applies for a new work permit, the bureau does not require him or her to produce a new health report as long as the foreigner remains in the same profession, according to the new regulation.

As stated above, no new health examination needs to be done if continue to work in the same field, regardless of who the employer is.

I'm being told that I still need the health check as "The foreign expert certificate is completely separate from the work permit". I must admit, I wasn't aware of the difference between the two. Can anybody elaborate on this?

plan b, that'd mean that fec is necessary in the field. i wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.

changes just keep on coming around the country and i can't believe how uniformed this country's system is Smile

however,
cheers and beers to no yearly health checks that've made my arm look like an addict Laughing

Laughing Actually, my morbid fear of needles is the main reason I don't want to do this d amned health check. Again.

The Chinese, on the other hand, seem to have no qualms about needles or bloodletting. Everytime I have been to the hospital, for complaints ranging from a throat infection to back pain, they sent me off to take a d amned blood test, which of course, ends up telling them nothing.

Actually, a "normal" blood test is actually useful information, as it can rule out some things. Thus, it can tell you something.

PlanB,

If you hold a valid residence permit, and if it is not expired, and if you change jobs in Guangdong, assuming you are a teacher, if you have a the requisite letter of release / letter of recommendation or "unified form" that is now being used in the Guangdong FEB, you do NOT need another medical, not even if you have come from out of province. That is not just the practice, it is the law.

More often than not, it is the FAO or the FAO's assistant that does not know what he or she is doing and then requires all the new FT's to undergo new medicals.

I was at one university in Guangzhou last spring where the FAO was closed to brain-dead upon arrival. This uni, one of the larger ones in central Guangzhou, hires many foreigners, and he was blatantly shipping all of them to have medicals, even those with letter of releases / etc, etc.
He wouldn't listen to our entreaties, his bosses wouldn't listen to our entreaties. So we took the problem to the Exit / Entry Folks at the main Exit / Entry PSB Office in Guangzhou. They called the FAO and his boss and straightened them out but not until at least 10-15 teachers had been uselessly shipped for medicals.

Hold firm on this one if indeed you meet the prerequisites .
