Hello everyone,
I will be teaching English to young learners this year. I have 3 months before I start, so I would like to take a TEFL course. I have a degree in English education (secondary), but I don't have a proper TEFL certificate or coursework in elementary ed. I will be teaching students from ages 3-17. I know the CELTA is the most valuable course, but it seems like the focus is teaching adults, so that won't help me much in a YL class. Are there any courses that focus 50-100% on strategies for teaching children?
Thanks! |

Where do you live? I know that Global Village Vancouver offers a YL extension after obtaining your CELTA. As an alternative, many universities offer YL-specific TESL courses (I took TESL for Children as a 4th year course at my university). The course that I took is available in July for 3 weeks (Monday-Friday 1pm-5pm). |

Cambridge/UCLES actually offers a full CELTYL course, which is just as long as a CELTA. Don't confuse this with the mere YL extension to the CELTA! Then, there is the Trinity CTEYL/CertTEYL. |
