HAs anyone worked or know anyone that's worked for EF in Guangzhou, do the know the salary range? Is it 6000Yuan as that seems a little low for china esp with no housing allowence!

Also, is Guangzhou expensive?

Thanks

Having had rather considerable dealings with that crowd, I can only advise you as follows:

ANY OTHER JOB BUT NOT THIS ONE.

You will regret your decision more than anything in your life.

Starting salary Guangzhou should be at least RMB 10,500 per month.

no housing allowance and all the grief that you want.

AND THAT'S BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE.

I think you don't need to be overly alarmed; EF is fairly well-known in Guangzhou and has several branches that have been around for years.

The salary of 6'000 is low but it represents more or less average pay for 20 teaching periods a week. What you need to know is that as a full-timer you will have to put in another 20 hours of office presence.

No housing subsidy is, however, a little harsh. Accommodation can be pretty costly, especially if you don't want to take long commutes in crowded public buses or the metro.

I haven't worked for EF but one of my Aussie colleagues did a couple of years back. He was satisfied for a long while until he learnt that an academic hour was not the same as a watch hour. That worked to his disadvantage to the tune of about 20% in pay losses.
