Hi,
Can anyone tell what the visa process entails and what usually happens after you've signed an offer of employment.

I can tell you the steps I went through, hopefully this will help:
1. A few days after you send your signed offer letter back, your future employer should send you a formal contract. They will probably also want a photocopy of your passport so that they can fill out the contract correctly before sending.
2. Your recruiter at this point should give you a list of the items that you will need to send to the KSA embassy. If you are a U.S. citizen these same documents will also need to be reviewed by the KSA Cultural Affairs people. Your recruiter or a designated agent will handle this for you once you submit all the paperwork....and it is alot of paperwork. Full medical exam with lab work, copies of transcripts, copies of degrees, letter from registrar verifying degree, TEFL certs, application, criminal background check and a few other things I can't remember.
3. takes about 2 weeks after submission to get your employment visa. DO NOT go to KSA on anything less than an employment visa.
4. Once you have the approval, work out your airline plans and go to KSA.
Again, this is the condensed version of what I had to do, others may have a different experience. Hope this helps. |

Yes... and if your employer is not efficient (all too common), this is why it can take months... and months...
That said, other Gulf countries can be difficult too. The Emirates seems to be trying to compete after years of relative simplicity and efficiency.

Most probably - and as airhorn said, this is the 'condensed version'.
If there are any 'complicating factors' in your application, such as your having several dependents or applying to an embassy not in your home country, the procedure can be even more long and complex. |
