Any Canadians?Amers. out there that can tell me how they went about getting legal employment in Spain? I am looking to take The Canterbury TEFL course which promises a year's work after that (any word on this course). How difficult is it to get the papers and what do you need? Also, how long does it take and do you have to get the visa back in your own country? I am in Korea now and would like to go right to Spain.

HOw is the job situation there now? The average hourly wage? Do privates stay with a teacher pretty long or (like here) a few months? Are most classes in schools, companies or privates?

It is very unlikely that you will find legal work in your first year or probably more.

The thread 'student visa and jobs' answers your question. I've bumped it up for you.

Be careful with Canterbury.I did my TEFL with them and while the course was good they only gave me a couple of classes after it finished.I thought I would have a full schedule but nobody on my course got more than a handful of classes. Also be aware that companies are not hiring illegal Americans any more and there is not an inexhaustable supply of privates. An American I know, who came in January, only has 7 hours a week, all night time privates. If you don't have a EU passport or a sack full of money you would be mad to come.
