				| Does anyone have a recommendation for a high quality reasonably priced plug adapter for North America to use in Japan? I have a good hair straightener and laptop that I'm reaaaaaaallllly afraid might be destroyed if I don't have a good one. Would it be better to get one in the US or in Japan? | |

				| Most laptops are rated for both N. American and Japan use - check the back of the rectangular block halfway down the power cord - mine says 100-240V, 50-60Hz, meaning it will work perfectly well in both the northern and southern regions of Japan.
If it has a 3-prong plug at the end, you just need a ground-lift adapter to convert it to 2-prong, AFAIK.

These will be considerably less expensive than other adapters.

However for the hair straightener you will probably need a voltage/wattage adapter - try to avoid the universal adapters as they are often bulky and some won't even stay up on a wall outlet on their own.
