What is the best way to find out about concerts here?

I don't suppose many American bands tour in Taipei, but it would be a nice slice of home to find anything slightly familiar.

Hey,
I havent been able to find out a lot of information on concerts since I've been here. I saw Oasis a few weeks back, only because I found out through another person. They were promoting Nine Inch Nails while we were there, and I've heard that Linkin Park is playing with All American Rejects and Hoobastank some time in the summer.

I've just been checking out a few websites of the bands that I follow to see their tour schedule - and see if they come anywhere near Taiwan. Most of the bigger bands usually make a stop in Hong Kong and Singapore.

You could also check out the websites to the Arena and the Exhibition Centre - to see if they have any bands coming up on there.

If anyone else has anymore information that could help out - that would be great!

Thanks Smile

You've not been able to find much information simply because there isn't any.

Few large bands come to Taiwan and given the present economic climate even less will come this year.

Most that come to the Far East go to Singapore, Hong Kong or Macau not Taipei. Linkin Park last time around came to Macau, Oasis to HK. Coldplay and the Police were in Singapore. I think you just have to accept that if you're in Taiwan you won't be seeing many international bands unless you're prepared to fly to the aforementioned places, or go to festivals in Japan (e.g. Fuji Festival). Bands on the whole avoid Taiwan due to cost issues so when they do come, e.g. Mariah Carey, Pavarotti, Elton John, and Black Eyed Peas its more exceptions than the rule. In the case of Elton John, and the young french singer, they won't return after the way the press hounded them at the airport.

check out www.ticket.com.tw

It's Chinese-only, but they have the information for any big shows going to Taipei.

Promotion here is a mess, and non-natives often find out about concerts by reading a review of the show the next day in the papers.

By the way, 2009 is the best year for concerts that I can remember in quite a few years. Sucks for me, since I'm a dad now I can't travel up north to see any of them.

Elton John will always be rememberd by the Taiwanese for screaming "Rude vile pigs! You are all rude vile pigs!" at the journalists that were pestering him at the airport.
