Hello,

I would appreciate leads for opportunities for first-time English teachers in the Middle East, Dubai in particular. Their requirements seem so far, to be a bit stringent (i.e. must be certified, etc.).

I have tons of relevant teaching experience at the university, community college, and workshop levels, however, I am not certified nor have taught I English per se.

If anyone has suggestions for legitimate leads be they recruiters, placement agencies, or schools/universities directly, I am looking for a position in the near term, vs. waiting until a September semester start.

Thank you.

In order to qualify to teach at any of the better institutions, you have to be certified - native speaker and experience will not even get you a look in. There are just too many well qualified, experienced people with the right bits of paper going for those jobs.

The better employers do not use placement agencies or recruiters - they hire direct.

If you really want to teach English, get a certification - if you want to teach English in UAE - get a relevant Master's degree and at least 3+ years experience.

To be honest based on your post, even bottom feeder employers wouldn't hire you (by bottom feeders I mean the worst employers, low pay no benefits, probably no legitimate visa etc.)

helen1 is right. The Gulf will not be the least bit interested in you. Asia is probably the best bet for those with no credentials (need BA+CELTA or MA). Work visas in this part of the world require notarized documents.
