Well a friend of mine who had a job at Victory but quit over a pay issue. the issue being...no pay, recently took action.
He was working at victory for...i dont know how long but he was working there. anyways he wasnt getting paid but he is the kind of guy i like even if you rip him off an amount he would use for a paper mache project he will still chase you down like a cheetah and deliver butt kickings aplenty here's what happened.
Victory school made him come to thier campus 4 seperate times to collect his pay but when he arrived it was excuses excuses excuses. the office was closed, the accountant was sick, it will be here another day, the paper work was lost when they switched schools. yeah yeah yeah yeah wheres my damn muneh!?
The paper work being lost was the best one his reply was simply "oh that's not a problem *unfolds the record of hours worked for the past few months* I kept mine" so a heated argument ensued where the owner called him a terrible teacher and unreasonable and a few colorful accusations were shouted from my friends end such as he was told in the interview that the school does not care if the students learn so long as they are happy. He went home after they did not pay him again. He told his wife about what happened and well it just so happens that the misses knows someone very powerful in vietnam...the auditor for private schools in the ministry of education to be exact.
So the conversation goes something like this "I understand that my brother in law is upset with not receiving pay" the guy who fed my friend a load of bull about his work ethic and temper ran his mouth like a small child trying to negotiate to a starving lion for it's safety to which the lion said unto the small child "I dont think you understood what i said...my BROTHER-IN-LAW is upset with not receiving his pay perhaps shutting your school down would help you conduct business better in the future."
well... The weasly little *beep* folded faster than omelettes at IHOP and my friend received his pay. now he is going around on the forums and telling his own story so i am just a secondary source but he has even gone so far as to hand out fliers in vietnamese slamming Victory.
All of the Teachers in Saigon who work at language centers im sure can relate to the experience of being shafted by some of these places. I hope this has brought a smile to all of your faces. |

Not a smile, but more disgust.
I recently was quoted by a director my wage, after I'd been hired and received positive student reports that the DOS actually showed me.
Then, when payday came, I was 1$ short per hour, for the entire month.
Get anything and everything in writing. Never trust anyone, here. |
